Western China International Economy & Trade Fair (“the Western Fair”) is an international economy and trade fair, approved by the State Council of China, covering international trade, investment and cooperation talks, as well
as business seminars.

On October 16, 2009, the 10th Western Fair and the 2nd Western China Forum on International Cooperation are formally opened in Chengdu, Sichuan. Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao showed up in the opening ceremony and
addressed a speech.

On October 20, the 10th Western Fair was successfully concluded. There were altogether eighty-eight countries and regions showing on the stage of this Western Fair, among which twenty-nine delegations were piloted by ministerial officials. During the fair, China’s twelve western provinces and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps have signed 1339 cooperation projects with the total investment amount of RMB 591.139 billion, which has exceeded the sum of all the previous nine Western Fairs’ investment volumes. Sichuan has signed 1146 investment projects with the investment amount of RMB 470.527 billion, covering 80% of the signed investment volumes in this fair.
